THE Half MOON AT CUXHAM The Half Moon is a 17th Century country Pub set in the heart of Cuxham. Since May 2006 it has been run by Andrew Hill and Eilidh Ferguson. Their passion and dedication is clear from the moment you set foot in the Pub.
Andrew's thirst for quality, local and fresh produce means that he has strived to source ingredients directly from the surrounding farms. Organic mutton from Colin Stokes in Tetsworth, Rare Breed Pigs from Emma and Jed in Ipsden and game birds from Manor Farm in Cuxham to name a few. Andrew and his team also rear their own pigs, geese and turkeys and have a brood of hens for fresh eggs. Various vegetables, herbs and salad leaves on the menu are grown by Eilidh in the Pub garden.
The winter months provide a chance to cold smoke salmon with apple wood and oak in the traditional way using a rustic homemade smoke house. Andrew's care and attention to seasonality adds interest and variation to the twice-daily changing menu.
The friendly and informal atmosphere means that everybody feels welcome; from couples having a romantic meal and families enjoying a bar snack in the beer garden, to groups of drinkers in for a pint of well-kept Brakspears and a packet of homemade crisps.
