The Bull & Butcher
The Bull & Butcher is a wonderful example of the quintessential English country pub. Taking over the business in August 2003, I had observed the market needed to be opened up to home cooked food with value for money. The business increased 35% in our first year, seeing good sustained growth to-date. Brakspear awarded us outstanding achiever in 2005 in view of this recognition.
I have always wanted to maintain the pub as a drinking house for locals balanced with home cooked and modern food. The architecture dating back to 1514, large open fires and wooden beams give a warm welcome location after a hike in the Chilterns, our famous homemade Steak & Ale suet crust pie and a pint of Cask Marquee approved real ale epitomises our offering. In summer, our large garden and patio areas are ideal for a long afternoon of relaxation.
The Bull Room was a new addition in 2006 with a huge elm table that seats up to 20 in comfort. An unusually atmospheric room ideal for large private parties, or to make use of the audio visual facilities for a more formal function.
This summer a new patio area with extend our function area offering potential for parties of around 100-150 under cover. Also this summer I have partnered with my head chef of two years Karen Lindsey and Sean Thomas. We aim to maintain our current customer base and also concentrate on large functions. A great team and local support with ensure the successful future of a great pub.
